Greg Hildebrandt
Greg Hildebrandt is an American illustrator born in Detroit, Michigan in 1939. Greg along with his twin brother Tim (known as the Brothers Hildebrandt) worked in animation, documentary films and commercial Illustration.
In 1975, Greg and Tim illustrated the first in a series of Lord of the Rings calendars for Ballantine Books. This launched the two men into international fame.
In 1977, Lucas Film hired the Brothers Hildebrandt to create the first movie poster for Star Wars. This cemented their legacy in science fiction and fantasy art.
Eventually the duo separated in 1981, and each took their own creative path. Greg began working on illustrated classics for unicorn publishing. It was at this time that he established himself as a force to be reckoned with on his own merits.
The Brothers eventually reunited their creative forces in 1993. Tim passed away in 2006. During his career Greg has worked for Marvel and DC comics, Wizards of the Coast, Tribune Media and many other large publishing houses.
In 1999 he began his American Beauties retro-styled pinup series that has since grown into a collection of over 110 paintings and was featured in a one-man exhibition at the Meisel Gallery in Soho, New York.
In 2003, Greg found himself in yet another world of creativity; Rock-and-Roll. After a chance conversation with Paul O’Neill Owner and creator of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Greg became their exclusive artist.
