Ever since Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Ring films came out, the Jackson vision has become the only vision for too many.  So thinking about balrogs, confrontation and remembering that Glamdring had come into Gandalf’s possession from troll’s hoard plunder from Gondolin (the brief scene described in too few details in the Simarillion) a visual idea came in mind and being. 

 

It is on my bucket list to do MY version of the confrontation between Gandalf and the Balrog upon the bridge in Khazad-dhum. I had once drawn it up sequentially (as a comic book) but it never saw print and all that remains today are a few preliminary sketches.
