Oil on board, 10x10 inches, in round vintage gilded frame. 2020.
Part of the Mnemosyne Greek Mythology series.
Pegasus is the famous winged horse of Greek mythology, tamed and ridden by the hero Bellerophon. Less well-known is his brother Chrysaor, born with him at the slaying of Medusa. Chysaor was depicted in ancient art as either a giant with two golden swords, or a winged boar with golden tusks. I have painted the two brothers playing together as children, flying in the clouds.
Painted for "Creatures Most Curious," an exhibition curated by Dan Chudzinski and hosted by the Mazza Museum of International Art from Picture Books at the University of Findlay, Ohio.
