May 22, 2011 just after one of the most deadly tornado’s hit Joplin, Missouri, the children who were caught in the actual storm told stories of the “butterfly people”. These were sightings of winged people that protected people from actual flying debris and were also said to have brought people up into the sky. Angels? Maybe. Interesting? Definitely! So this illustration is my depiction of the stories of the butterfly people of Joplin, Missouri, with the triangle expressing the funnel of the tornado.
